Hello, my name is Michi. I am an Otaku. I love BL & Yuri!

I use this blog primarily for incredibly long posts/ramblings, an essay, reviews, discussion, and impressions on media/fannish/subcultures.
I mostly write on my thoughts on media, personal blogging and occasionally might talk about discourse/politic (but I try to tone this down).
Not only that, but I am also fandom/otaku oldies....so I generally tend to aligned with older fandom cultures than modern one.
Also, I recently want to broaden my horizon to talk about other interests, other subcultures and non-japanese media!

As an otaku, I am primarily interested in Japanese media such as anime, manga, Japanese games, and its subcultures. I also have multiple fandoms and shippers! As a result, I prefer to talk a lot about my other interests.

While I don't usually publish NSFW content, don't be surprised if I do bring it up, because I'm a pervert *cough*
I also enjoy dead dove content, transgressive media, and some problematic fetish (albeit my tastes tend to be more vanilla).
I have a lot of fandom/series I am into, so I don't think I will list it, lol. Anyway, this is my diary & personal journal where I can write whatever I want!

I just finished watching Chiikawa movie on my local cinema.
I think it was fun movies, but people exaggerated it darker element.
Like it's not that dark or edgy. It's mild at best
the darker undertones in Chiikawa movie is akin to classic children stories / folklore.
It's still lighthearted movie at the end of day.

I've been so obsessed with Yuri Espoir that I read it many times.....
it's my ideal Yuri so much.

Okay, today we’re going to review something good, especially for age-gap yuri enjoyer. This time, I’ll be talking about a Teacher x Student yuri manga by Flowerchild Ueda. If you’ve read Utsushicha Dame-na Kao, you’re probably already familiar with Flowerchild’s work. This manga actually came out before Utsudame!

So if you enjoyed Utsudame, there’s a good chance you’ll like Warikan as well, since many of Flowerchild’s recurring tropes, themes, and stylistic touches that appear in Utsudame can already be seen here. I won’t spoil too much, but I’ll talk why this yuri manga is so good and why I think you should read it.

Saw a tweet about how western yuri fans tired of yuri shows treating lesbians as if lesbian love is somehow “pure,” or different. how they want to see the messiness of desire. like valid reason but I simply don't trust western yuri fans lol.

You'd guys be saying "uwaah I want messy lesbian stories or not boring vanilla lesbian story!" then you guys crying if some yuri series dare to include male characters for narrative/conflict reason or using transgressive element (incest / questionable age gap ), disturbing sexual fetish or god forbid if teen characters having sex lol.

Like I see this all the time to the point I am just don't trust if that opinion are fucking genuine at all.

you all can't even handle Citrus lmao, what makes you think you can handle ''messy and dirty lesbian romance" stories?
if you cannot even handle some ecchi element in Yuri maybe don't make a big talk how you wanted more sexual and messy yuri stories lol

as for the male characters part, I don't care what's your opinion on men in yuri, it's whatever but if you want lesbian stories to tackle heteropatriarchal theme then you have to include men as conflict of interests somehow, whether you'd like it or not. since twitter himejos wanting their yuri stories to be some sort of feminist statement then don't be mad if there's men in your yuri if the series want to delving into heteropatriarchal commentary.

I am...really feels vindicated with Sayonara Lara case because I can smell the yuribait from miles away and it's amazing how plenty of yuri fans fall for it!
like it's being yuribait is non-issue tbh, but the problem is how a lot yuri fans having crazy expectations that ''this is show made for lesbian by lesbian" like...okay

that aside I am sure Sayolara is a good show and I am glad we get more original anime but the way twitter folk talking about it just make me want to roll my eyes inside.

somehow I am glad I am veteran otaku who already fine with yuribait stuff.

that aside we need to talk why english yuri fans are so afraid of ambiguity and only see female characters as object whether they end up with a girl or not, rather than you know...actually seeing the show as it is. especially when it's original anime or ongoing manga series.

also no, it's not queerbait. you're expecting too much from the creator that they have queer people crossed in their mind when we know they just want to bait yuri shipper in lol

Hiiii guys, sorry for not writing for a while, a LOT of things happened to me last month.

First, my mom passed away from thyroid cancer. I was more or less expecting it since the doctor told us she was stage 4 and her cancer was the anaplastic type, which is the most aggressive kind of thyroid cancer, so I was already prepared. I was sad obviously, and I still am, but at least she passed away peacefully in her sleep instead of writhing in pain. Honestly, I wasn't that close with my mom and I have my own grief around her, but I'm letting it go and trying to see her in a different light. Anyway, I think that's enough about that. I'm okay and more or less moved on, so don't worry about me!

AAAAH CANNOT BELIEVE I GOT SWITCH 2 NOW!!!!!

I am so fucking ready for Xenoblade Genesis & FW I guess

So I've been continuing to read The Jakarta Method, and there's an interesting line on page 72 where Jones (one of the Indonesian ambassadors at the time) wasn't pleased with how the CIA handled things, because he felt it was too "black and white." The quote is basically:

"Washington policymakers had not been privy to all the facts nor really grasped the inwardness of the situation, but had proceeded on the assumption that Communism was the main issue," he wrote. "This was the all-too-common weakness of Americans — to view conflict in black and white terms, a heritage, no doubt, from our Puritan ancestors. There were no grays in the world landscape. There was either good or evil, right or wrong, hero or villain."

This really explains a lot about the American mentality. I notice this a lot on social media, where Americans sometimes view things in such a black-and-white manner, like it's either "us vs. them," or there has to be one side that's right and one that's wrong in every discourse. It's just so annoying because it's such a narrow-minded way of thinking.

I do think this is very consistent, because whenever I watch documentaries about American doctrine and propaganda directed at their own citizens, they're always framed in such a black-and-white manner. a very Puritanical view, stemming from evangelicalism.

It also explains American Puritanical attitudes, especially toward transgressive media, and this mindset that antagonists can't be redeemed, or aren't even allowed to show redeemable traits.

I find this really interesting, it just clicked for me why Americans are Like That.

I find it funny how western/English himejoshi still cling to or use Yuri on Ice as an example of "BL being more mainstream than yuri."

Like, I hate to say this, but YOI has practically been dead for a while now and is just a mere corpse of its former glory. Its fandom still hasn't gotten revitalized because younger fujoshi or female otaku don't really know or care about YOI!

I think Kawoshin and DMMD are still getting newer fujoshi fans flocking in, instead of motherfucking Viktuuri.

And this weird victimization is funny when there's no better time to become a yuri fan than in this era, Western himes are still acting victimized by the existence of BL, or to be more precise, by the existence of YOI, like some sort of PTSD soldier.

You literally have the biggest mecha IP on the planet featuring a lesbian couple as the main leads, and Nirvana as the opening for a yuri anime, and yet you still act like yuri is this underrated niche compared to BL, lol.

Yuri on Ice truly mindbroke Western himejoshi, they still can't get over it, my fucking god. Imagine still being mindbroken by a dead IP.

Sayonara Lara drama really make me convinced we need to do study how insecure western yuri fans are.
you don't see fujoshi being that annoying over bait and switch.
maybe this will make industry realize yuri fans as whole tend to be more extreme lol. especially chinese and english yuri fans.
should've tried pander to fujoshi
