michifugu: Homura in Kaiten PV (Madomagi - Akemi Homura 2)

After taking some time and finding the right mood to write again, I finally have the opportunity to review one of the best yuri manga I’ve ever read! Words cannot describe how incredibly good this yuri is!

Kami Eshi JK to OL Fujoshi
is a manga created by Sato (the author of Frag Time). The story follows Aizawa, a socially awkward office lady (OL) and fujoshi, who attends a convention to meet her most revered BL doujinka, Misumi. However, it turns out Misumi is actually a high school girl (JK), and to Aizawa's surprise, Misumi asks her to date her! Yes, the story revolves around an age-gap relationship between an OL and a JK. I know it might turn off some people but trust me it is good & very vanilla! and if you like age-gap this story is probably good for you & highly recommend!

I can't stress enough how much I recommend this manga, especially for fujoshis! I truly, truly encourage fujoshis to read it because this yuri manga includes so much fujoshi culture, homages, and even explores the struggles of being a fujoshi.

Even if you're not a fujoshi, you should still read it because it's a very interesting yuri manga!

I know I might be overexaggerating, but gosh, I really love this manga! As a yuri fan who is also a fujoshi, I can relate to many of its characters. I feel like this is one of the few yuri manga that deeply explores doujin culture and female otaku culture from a fujoshi's perspective

Okay, first, let's talk about why I call this manga a 'Yuri Love Letter to Fujoshis.' As you can see, the lead characters are two fujoshis who are dating. However, they each represent different sides of fujoshi: the Artist/Creator and the Fan/Enjoyer.

We see that our MC, Aizawa, is a fujoshi who primarily enjoys and supports Misumi’s (the artist) work because Misumi draws Aizawa’s favorite OTP! This manga explores the Fan × Artist dynamic in a way that is handled much better than most manga I’ve read.

Among romance stories that tackle the Fan × Creator relationship, I love how Kamieshi approaches it. It’s incredibly sympathetic to both the creator and the fan while also exploring the romantic dynamic between these two 'roles' in a very interesting way.

One of my favorite things is how Kamieshi approaches the artist's mindset, especially through the lens of a shipper or a fan of a series, which I rarely see in manga.

Usually, when a manga explores the artist's mindset, it's always from the perspective of an 'amateur who wants to make it into the industry/become famous' or the 'struggling artist experience.' However, we rarely see an artist's point of view from the lens of a fan artist or a passionate fan—how they approach creating their work, their thought process, their mindset, and even how they handle opportunities to go commercial or become professionals.

and Kamieshi handle this subject very thoughtfully, especially seeing Misumi's conviction why she really rejected commercial project opportunity because she's afraid she couldn't draw her favorite OTP anymore, her OTP is very important things to her as it was the one who make her happy and source of her creativity desire. And I really learn a lot of new things from this manga that sometime make me ''hmm I wonder if this how my favorite fanartist/dojinka feels when they're being like this or why my fav artist doing something like this" it just makes me see things differently when I saw some doujin/fan artist I follow on twitter going pro or refuse to go pro. Like I feel not a lot of anime & manga exploring this side of creator. Because it's so interesting especially toward fanartist & hobbyist artist who just wanted to draw their favorite things.

Another interesting aspect of this manga is its approach to the relationship between artists and fans within the derivative works and doujinshi space. Words cannot express how much I love Aizawa and Misumi’s dynamic in the story. Aizawa isn’t just a mindless fan or a mere simp for Misumi—she genuinely and passionately loves Misumi’s work because of how deeply it touches her. Seeing her favorite OTP scenario inside her head being brought to life through Misumi’s art resonates with her, and as a fan of those characters and their pairing, she truly appreciates how Misumi can capture and express what she fantasizes about in her ship. I’m sure many shippers can relate to Aizawa’s passion.

What makes Aizawa’s enthusiasm even more meaningful is that it’s not baseless. She once had a favorite artist she adored, but because she only admired their work passively and never interacted with them (out of fear of bothering them), she was devastated when the artist suddenly deleted their account. Knowing that the only OTP artist she loved was gone, she deeply regretted never expressing how much their work meant to her. That experience is why she is so vocal about her love for Misumi’s art—she wants Misumi to know just how much her work matters to her. This part of the story really touched me, and I can relate to Aizawa on so many levels, especially when a favorite artist suddenly deactivates.

Aizawa’s dedication to supporting Misumi is also commendable. She even goes as far as meeting Misumi’s parents and coming out about their relationship to them (and thank goodness their parents were accepting). She swore to support Misumi’s dream of becoming a professional BL mangaka in every way she could so that she could see her achieve her goals. Like legit, she's absolute chads than most average BL MC!!!

And lastly, despite being an age-gap romance, the relationship between Aizawa and Misumi is portrayed in a very delicate, respectful, and heartfelt way that doesn’t feel like fetish fuel. Honestly, among the many age-gap romances I’ve read, this one feels genuinely sincere and respectful. Aizawa deeply respects Misumi and holds her in high regard. Even when there are slightly pervy moments, they feel tame and delicately handled. I can’t quite describe it, but I really love how Aizawa and Misumi’s relationship is depicted. I feel like people who enjoy vanilla age-gap romances will really dig into their dynamic.

Overall, it’s Kamiyuri for me—10/10. I truly believe this series has the best fujoshi representation and is incredibly respectful toward fujoshi as a whole. In most anime and manga, fujoshi are often treated as a joke or parody, but Kamieshi feels like a genuine love letter to them. This manga explores so many aspects of fujoshi culture, mindset, and passion in a way that shows deep appreciation. It’s clear that Sato-sensei respects and admires fujoshi, as the depiction and portrayal in this series feel heartfelt and authentic.

Not only that, but the way the story incorporates lesbianism/yuri is also very interesting and genuine, making it a must-read for lesbian fujoshi!. I really need everyone to read this manga!
